No way to change that out without significant body work! And...oh yes...they check that one. I lived in Belgium a few years back and had my US Spec Z shipped over there to enjoy in Europe. When my three years was up, I was in the process of shipping my car back to the US. I actually had to get a letter from the DOT to certify my car was US worthy...the VIN wasn't enough. Even with the letter, they compared the VIN at the dash, door, radiator support, and the firewall. If one was missing or wrong, a ton of other paperwork is required. I would never think to try to cheat the VINs. That's just dumb. And I understand you wouldn't too. Rojoloco said it best...and this is the point that I really wanted to capture... there is just no way to really do it "YET". But if your Z is a 90, you only have 3 years left to go. I have a buddy here in Italy with an R32 that only has those last couple years left :)
